Our 90-Day Challenge Ends this Sunday, December 25th!
The angels shared the message of the newborn King to the shepherds and pointed the way for them to meet baby Jesus. Be a "Christmas Angel" for someone in your life by inviting them to meet Jesus at Christmas Mass. This is a wonderful way to finish our 90-Day Challenge of making Sunday Mass a weekly habit and inviting others to do the same!
SPIRITUAL OFFERING CARD
As you come into the church, we invite you to stop by the table in the center of the gathering area to fill out a card and place it in the basket. The basket of our spiritual offerings will be placed before the altar during the Presentation of Gifts at Mass.
To help each of us extend Jesus' invite, we have Invitation cards available at the church entrances. Please take one and share it with someone who may just need that friendly invitation to come and see.
September 25th began our parish’s 90-Day Challenge: An Hour with God! We are challenging everyone in our parish family to Take the Time and Make the Habit of coming to Weekend Mass. We invite to accept the challenge by signing one of the “Signature Banners” near the church entrances. The banners are a visible sign of our commitment to spend an hour with God each week at Sunday Mass.
What's with the Clock?
You may have noticed our parish's logo for the challenge and wondered why the clock hands are on that odd time! The big hand is pointing to God since the Lord should be the main focus in our lives. The small hand is pointing inside our church as that is where God is calling us to gather together each weekend to be in Communion with Him and family in faith!
Will You Take the Challenge?
In our recent parish survey, over 60% of those not regularly attending Mass stated that they had “fallen out of the habit” during the pandemic. This fall we are inviting you to take a 90 day challenge to make the habit of spending an hour with God and your parish family at Sunday Mass (of course, Saturday evening counts, too!). Our journey will begin on the weekend of September 24-25 and lead us to the joyful celebration of Christmas.
Why 90 Days?
Popular research has shown that it takes 21 days to build a habit and 90 days to make that habit a permanent lifestyle change. Of course, weekend Mass is only one day of the entire week. The 90 day challenge will help remind us that we are called to not only take part in Sunday Mass, but live the Mass each and every day! We do this by first encountering Jesus by listening to His word and receiving His Body in the Eucharist. Next, we are sent out (the meaning of the word, Mass) to be the Body of Christ to those we meet throughout the rest of the week. This journey will have us gathering together for 14 Sundays, but the transformative grace we receive at Mass will be with us all 90 days!
What if I already have the habit?
For those who already have the habit of coming to Mass, we challenge you to personally invite one person or family each week to join you at Mass. At Mass the Bread of Life is blessed, broken and shared. When we break out of our routines to share the gift of the Mass with others, God allows us to be a blessing to others while He blesses our lives, too!
What else is involved?
Throughout this 90 day journey to Christmas there will be a variety of opportunities for you to be inspired, engaged in the liturgy, and reflect on how one hour with God changes the rest of the week and your very life. Stay tuned for more information!
Spend a moment to think of the different activities and habits in your life that take up to an hour or more each week: Cooking and eating meals, driving in the car, exercising, watching the TV or connecting through social media? There are 168 hours in a week and God has invited us to take the time to spend at least one with Him surrounded by our family in faith.
This one hour with Christ and His Body has the power to transform every other hour in our week and in our lives. In our parish’s 90-Day Challenge, An Hour with God, together we will accept God’s invitation to be transformed and welcome others to experience how one hour with God at Mass each week can make all the difference.
Studies have shown that it takes 90 days to make a habit a permanent lifestyle choice. Beginning next weekend, Sept. 24-25, we will journey to Christmas with the goal of making Mass a holy habit in our lives and welcoming others to do the same. During this time there will be inspiring resources and engaging experiences at Mass to help you reflect and respond to God’s call each and every day.
Join us at any Mass next weekend to begin the challenge!
